Episode 02: Leading From the Ground Up with Trent Meyer of Hi-Tec Profiles
On this episode of the Sask Entrepreneurs Podcast, we speak with Trent Meyer, President at Hi-Tec Profiles, one of Western Canada’s leading providers of steel processing services, including profile cutting and bending technology.
Trent has been at the helm of the 25-year-old company since 2018. They do business with many companies in select industries, without discriminating on size. He says that having multiple clients in certain industries is possible due to strong relationships. Whether it’s a long-term relationship or a new one, Trent and his team focus on delivering exactly what the clients need, when they need it.
Trent talks about navigating Covid in a manufacturing environment, and the changes and adaptations that had to happen. They are an essential business because some of their clients are in the medical field and rely on Trent’s products. He credits the flexibility of his team as the reason they were able to make quick changes on the fly.
Trent also talks about the importance of the team, and the trust they have in one another. Everyone at the company starts on the floor, so the leaders have all done all the jobs. As he concludes, it’s important to do the things that nobody else wants to do.
